Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1 c chocolate chips
  • 1-1/4 c evaporated milk
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 2 c sugar, powdered

Instructions

  • Over low heat, melt butter and chocolate chips.
  • Add evaporated milk and powdered sugar.
  • Bring to boil, stirring constantly until thick.
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla.

Peppernuts

Modified from Flo's recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c corn syrup
  • 1/4 c molassas
  • 2 T maple syrup
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1-1/2 c evaporated milk 1-12 oz can
  • 1 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t baking soda
  • 1 t ginger
  • 1/4 t nutmeg
  • 1/4 t allspice
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t cloves
  • 1-1/2 t anise extract
  • 8 about a flour use enough flour to make it workable; not sticky

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients. Flour: add enough to make it workable; not sticky-- ABOUT 8 cups.
  • Chill dough
  • Roll balls of dough in long, round strips of dough.
  • Cut dough into small pieces about the size of a nickel. Place on greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake.

Ingredients

  • 3 c oats
  • 1 c almonds, chopped
  • 1 c cashews, chopped substitute hazelnuts if preferred
  • 3/4 c coconut
  • 6 T brown sugar
  • 6 T maple syrup
  • 1/4 c vegetable oil
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 1 c raisins, added after baking

Instructions

  • Combine above ingredients, EXCEPT raisins.
  • Spread in an oven roasting pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees, turning frequently until browned.
  • Remove from oven and mix in raisins.
