I left Palmer Lake and drove west into Utah.  At Arches National Park, I scored the last spot in the campground.  Upon waking up the next morning, I spent the much of the morning in the park; then headed south thru Moab, down to Blanding, UT.

I continued west past Natural Bridges, Hite, Capitol Reef and on thru Escalante to Bryce, where I thought I might find a spot to camp.  Bryce was beyond full, virtually crawling with people, buses, and cars.  [I discovered later it was FREE National Parks Day!]  It was getting late in the day, but I headed on into Nevada to the loneliest highway in the US.  About midnight, I found a place in the national forest to sleep until morning.  Then onward towards Charleston, OR.

I headed to the northwest corner of Nevada–Burning Man Country–then into California, around Shasta, and up to Roseburg, OR where I got a motel for the night.

The next day I met the girls at our house in Charleston.
